Rate limits

To keep the API fast and reliable for everyone, Parseur enforces request limits.

Limits

/login and /signup: strictly rate‑limited.

Avoid automating these endpoints. Use your API key (see Authentication) instead of programmatic login.

All other endpoints: 5 requests per second per IP, with an initial burst allowance of 20 requests.

Short spikes are allowed (up to the burst), but sustained traffic should average ≤ 5 rps per IP.

Your Parseur web app connections count toward your rate limit. If you are sending API traffic from the same IP while many app tabs are open and you get rate limited, consider closing some browser tabs.

What happens when you exceed the limit?

The API returns 429 Too Many Requests.

Slow down your client and retry later (use exponential backoff with jitter).

If you run many workers behind the same NAT or serverless egress, remember the limit is per public IP.
